Games I Really Should Finish

The other night I was looking for something to play, staring at my shelves I saw quite a few games that I hadn't finished never mind some that I had still yet to start. So it got me thinking which games do I really need to play and finish before I forget about them completely, it also made me question why I hadn't finished them as well. I mean over the course of my life I have started and finished numerous games, even crap like My Horse & Me 2! So just why is it that I have some great games just sitting there on my shelf begging to be played to completion and I am just ignoring them choosing to play some pile of shite instead?

I bought this recently thinking I really need to play this after enjoying the first game (although I got bored with collecting all the flags in the first one so never finished that either) Since then it has been sat on my shelf for a few weeks only to be ignored. I am determined to play through the game sooner rather than later though.

I first bought inFamous on release and really did start to enjoy the game, although I did end up lending it to my next door neighbour the next day so he could see if he wanted to get it or not. About 2 months past until I finally got the game back, by then I couldn't be arsed with the game so put it on my shelf to collect dust.

Why I bought Killzone 2 is beyond me as I really didn't like the first game, (Which really should have warned me off the sequel) I still can't make my mind up over this game as I really don't like the control system, yet I have enjoyed the time I have spent with the game. Maybe I am just used to the controls on the 360 when playing shooters.

Split Second was one of those games that looked really good and I just had to play, yet so long after and I still can't be arsed playing it after dumping it onto my shelf. I think the reason why I stopped playing the game was either due to nagging or cheap A.I. (Hopefully it was due to nagging since I aim to give the game another whirl over the next few weeks)

Uncharted took the idea of Tomb Raider and ran with it resulting in a more solid and fun game, yet still this game got taken out of my PS3 and dumped on the shelf for some unknown reason. What really puzzles me though is as well as not finishing this game I also have the second one still sealed sat next to it.

What is really annoying though is these are just a few of the games that I need to either play or finish, its scandalous the amount I have spent on games just to never play. I know we all do it, but generic game x as it is on sale and seems like a bargain at the time, then 2 months on and it's completely forgotten about. Maybe I need to start looking at what I actually have to play in future rather than buying yet more games to ignore.

Moan, Moan, Bloody Moan!

Most of the arcade games on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network aren't worth shit. A fact I know most of my mates agree with me on, as we moan to each other about how such and such a game is a pile of shit, and not worth the points or money one of us dumb ass mofo`s just dropped on the pile of crap. This could be avoided quite easily if the trials lasted a bit longer than 2 minutes of the game, or in the case of the PSN games actually had a trial version instead of having to dump money on a game hoping it maybe cool.

Topatoi falls into that category after dumping roughly £10 on the game thinking it looked like it could be okay. How wrong could I have been as the preview video didn't show exactly how shite the game really is. (Okay I know I shouldn't be surprised that the preview video looked more fun than the game itself, but I am sure many others have also been fooled by film trailers which do the same thing.)

Shitty Game Topatoi!

On the same day I bought Topatoi I also bought The Punisher and Numblast. The Punisher is a pretty good game overall, well that is until you hop online and suffer from lag issues and invincible opponents. Which in turn made me wish I hadn't wasted £8 on the fucking thing, especially since the online could have been so much more fun as it reminded me of a poor man's Unreal Tournament. While Numblast looks like a piece of shit but is surprisingly not to bad of a game, and one I can see myself wasting away a few hours on here and there. It's your typical puzzler that just draws you in and eat's up your time, so you can never have just on quick go.

I recently downloaded the new Battlefield 1943 trial for the PS3 as I was thinking of purchasing the game. Upon loading the game you press start and get asked to make a EA account. (Something I already have but the PS3 won't let me use for some reason) So I thought fuck it I would make a new one only to be greeted with a screen that basically says "Fuck You, go and play something else!" okay it may not say those words exactly but it may as well do as I can't get the game to work. So as a result I have saved myself £15 which can go towards my beer and whore fund, so thanks EA for that. :)

That's not to say that there aren't some decent games coming out with a few of my favourites being Shatter on the PS3 and Yosumin! Live on the 360. Both of these games have pretty basic game play, but they are fun all the same and are currently taking up quite a bit of my time.

Shatter really is a cool game. :)

Shatter is basically an updated clone of Arkanoid, with quite a few changes to make the game a lot more entertaining today. One of the main ones has to be the bosses that appear every 5-10 stages or so, I really didn't expect to see bosses in this type of game and while they sound out of place are perfect for the game. Another nice touch is the ability to either suck or blow jets of air with your ship, which helps bend the ball around the back of some blocks. Describing the game really does not do it justice. You really should take the time to check it out if you get the chance.

Dumb name, fun game!

Yosumin Live is surprisingly made by Square Enix, which is why I bought the game in the first place. (I am a sucker for most Square Enix and Koei titles no matter how shit the game could be) Yosumin is a puzzle game that has you making rectangles by highlighting 4 tiles of the same colour. It really is a simple game and at the same time quite addictive. If you manage to get 4 tiles of the same colour in each corner of the grid you can highlight them all for a Yosumin! (No I don't know what one is either but apparently it's good) There really isn't much more to the game than that, it is just a simple puzzle game.

If it wasn't for the fact that a buddy bought Shatter and I didn't have some points left on my 360 account that have been sat there months. I would have missed out on both of these games. So thanks to Dave for making me try Shatter and thanks to Microsoft for raising the price of most XBLA titles ensuring I had 800 points for Yosumin.

Oh and as a side note WTF are Koei doing releasing Samurai Warriors 3 as a Wii exclusive title? The fucking tools. :(

Man Flu

So I currently have a really bad illness known as Man Flu, as all males will know this is a deadly virus that can lead to death. I really have it pretty bad as I sit feeling sorry for myself while trying to get random females walking past my house to feel sorry for me, and dress in a nurses outfit and take care of me until I am better.

Apparently very few women like being screamed at in the street, yet they moan when they don't get any attention at all. Women are complex beings where answering their questions normally leads you into a whole host of problems, and not answering is just equally as bad as they say you don't care. The thing is they are right, we don't care what dress you wear as long as we can get to the restaurant on time so we can eat. Instead of waiting 5 hours for you to decide what to wear only for you to say "forget it I am not going now as I have no decent clothes". Something we all know is a lie as you spent £200 on clothes just days before. Another thing we will never answer is the fat question, we tell the truth and you go mad, if we say no you won't believe us anyway and say we don't care. Please stop asking us stupid questions that are impossible to answer without getting ourselves into trouble.

So yeah as I was saying I currently have Man Flu, normally I would ring in work sick and play video games all day with the central heating on full. Unfortunately I have started a new job so I had to go in and work, as a result I feel worse now than I did this morning, and really haven't been in the mood to play any games at all. So I have spent the evening watching TV and shouting at women passing by until the police asked me to stop doing it.

For any females reading this unsure what Man Flu is, or how deadly a disease it is to us males. It is comparable to the trauma you ladies suffer when you see a pair of shoes you want, only to find out that they don't have them in your size. So please if you see a male with Man Flu please treat him with the dignity he deserves, and refrain from saying "Grow up and stop feeling sorry for yourself, it's only a cold".

Why Won't You Pause? Dammit

You know what really annoys me, when your playing a game and have to go answer the door. You think "I will just pause this cut scene while I see who it is", only to find out that the game won't pause or the cut scene skips. This is something that happens pretty often to me, it seems as though everyone waits just until the cut scene starts before deciding to call and ask if I want new windows or with some retarded questionnaire that I don't want to answer. Heck even the pizza guy gets in on the act and chooses the exact moment to deliver my food, not 10 minutes before when I was wandering aimlessly across some field fighting some generic monsters, or shooting some terrorist scum in the head just so I could reach the next part in the story.

With the 360 on the odd occasion there is a way around this with a couple of games, such as pressing your guide button to freeze the cut scene up until you are ready to watch it. This doesn't always work though as sometimes the action will just carry on regardless. I like RPG's and one of the main element's of a good RPG is the story, in fact it is probably what helps make or break an RPG and forms many people's opinion of the game.

Games like Lost Odyssey, Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear Solid 4 and quite a few others let you pause cut scenes and it sound's like nothing, but it really is great that you can do something so simple in these games. If anything it has helped people enjoy the games a lot more as they know what is happening in the plot lines. (Except for MGS 4, nobody knows what Kojima is on about)

It is just a shame that so many games are ruined like this for me and quite a few other people at a guess. This could be simply solved with a few easy steps such as........
  • Placing a large man-eating lion outside your front door, which really would be a good idea except for the cost of keeping a lion, and the inability to leave your house for fear of being eaten.
  • An intercom system set up so people can buzz you from the front door and say what they want, enabling you to tell them to sod off without having to answer the door.
  • Employing a butler, this would be a great idea but would leave you even less money to buy games. Plus if there was a murder committed everyone would accuse them of doing it, resulting in the press camping outside your house and banging on your door that the butler will no longer answer.
  • A replay option that is available in the menu to replay the last cut scene, enabling you to answer the door and watch it when you get back.
  • Finally how about just giving us gamers the option to actually pause a cut scene, other games let us do this. It wouldn't be to hard to implement into a game and would make for a better experience for gamers.

Will some game developers actually ever listen to their audience and add features like this to their games, or will myself and many others never be able to find out an important part of the plot, while that asshole came to the door asking if we have thought about changing our gas suppliers.

Pwned by Kotaku.com :(

Well im pissed off at the moment, why? because today i wrote a story on ConsoleHeroes.com about Iron Man appearing in the new Hulk game based on this render here.

This render has been available for the last 5-6 days and nobody had noticed anything about it,but as i was looking through Sega`s new screenshots today i stumbled across it again and took another look at it.
Then wrote the story which is here

Then about an hour after i thought i would share the news with Kotaku as they always give props to the sources, so i figured it would be good for the site. What i did not count on though was a guy called Mike Fahey on taking that info, and making out that he had just recieved the 5 day old render in his mailbox, and writing this story without giving props for the info, which is a courtesy that they show to other websites. So Mikey although you probably wont read this, i think your a twat for not naming the source of your story. A story that you would not have had in the first place,if i didn`t email it to you, but i guess Kotaku dont care as they are a big site and can do what they want.

Flea In The Head 2 Head GamerScore League

Well it appears im going to be entering season 3 of the Head 2 Head GamerScore League,i never thought i would enter into it as it sort of spawned from me saying no to CC99999 and Trip299`s idea on how i should run the GamerScore League i came up with.
I saw it as a slap in the face originally, and was pretty annoyed about it all,but meh if you can take someones idea and improve it surely that cant be a bad thing and they improved on it a heck of a lot.

Im actually looking forward to it now though, especially as i dont have to update the scores and keep track of all the players, which was a major pain in the ass to say the least.

So how does it work?
Well for 4 days your team competes against another getting as much gamerscore as they can,and it goes on your win loss record,Then the week later you do the same against a different team, until all teams have played each other in their respective divisions.
Then the playoffs start, how do these work?
I have no idea.

There is also some prizes this time around including a 8gb Zune for the MVP and a game for each member of the winning team.

With the start date the 6th March ive got to resist playing any games i dont have points in so i can score as much as possible for my team,it also means i have to play Jumper again on my normal tag and not my review tag,im dredding having to replay it,but i guess ill suck it up for my team.

So who am i teaming up with?

Spartan the Truck Killer

This guys so tough he fought with an 18 wheeler and lived to tell the tale, part man, part machine,100% Tough.
I guess thats why hes so good with the sniper rifle in most of the games we play, using his enhanced cybernetic vision and stuff.
He is also the reason why i got ressurected so many times on shadowrun after running ahead to get some kills before the other team got annihilated.

Graf One K

This guy is just off the wall,i had to give him a warning for saying to someone congratualtions on being rich,he writes short storys about pirates who dont eat ice-cream and has managed to offend 99% of forum users with his razor sharp tongue of sarcasm, hes not one to mince his words at all.
He was awesome at the Call of Duty 4 Beta then the game came out, and now he cant shoot someone stood 2 feet infront of him on the game.

Mr Nice Guy Himself Crash

Well what can we say about Crash? Well hes one of the nicest people that you can meet on xbox live, hes a fan of the Scarlet spider and i owe him a sig with the character in from about 1962 or there abouts.
He seems to waltz through most games he plays and likes to get the most points out of each game he plays.
Ive told him to get Tetris Evolution hopefully that will mess it up for him a bit.
lol

So thats my 3 team mates, now we just have to wait for the league to start.

If you want to participate you can still sign up but you best be quick about it,just goto ConsoleHeroes.com the sign up is in the forums there.

Why Tetris Evolution Is The Suck

I woke up sunday morning and thought i would have a quick go on tetris evolution, something thats impossible with tetris i might add,so i put the disk in my 360 and away i went.
I blitzed through Marathon mode not problem at all and was having fun playing the game, unlocking all of the Tin,Bronze,Silver,Gold and Platinum Medal achievements for it in one swoop, along with the Back to Back and Back to Back and Back again,Ludicrous Speed,Rollin On Spinnas,Dirty South Style Back To Back and T-Spin Deluxe achievements.

I thought i was on a roll and unstoppable at the game so i finished my game of marathon and thought i would have a go at the Go Low mode.
So was i still on a roll?
You bet Unlocking the Bronze,Silver and Gold Medal achievements as well as the very annoying Went Low achievements with no trouble again.

So whats next Ultra Mode?
Sounds hard but ill give it ago i thought to myself, but again no problem at all Bronze,Silver and Gold Medals again with no problems, wow this is so simple, ill have the full points in no time.

Next up Cascade mode?
WTF is cascade mode? Ah well ill play it anyway,
Bronze,Silver,Gold Medals again and All about the Hamiltons Achievements no problem at all.
What about the Big Ol Cascade Achievement?
This is where my day started going bad,No matter what i could not get it and despite looking on you tube for how to do it,i was still none the wiser, after an hour of trying to get it i thought ill skip it and go back to it.

Next up Race mode,Again Bronze Silver and .......... yes i only got bronze and silver,i tried for over 2 hours for the Gold and ended up getting the A for Effort achievement where you have to play 100 games,i was actually getting really angry at a game,so angry i wanted to snap the disk.

So i decided to go get some food and go back to that mode at a later date,so i started Hotline mode, getting the Take it off the Top then the Bronze,Silver and Gold Medal achievements while wondering what the heck i was supposed to be doing in this mode, but couldn`t be bothered checking the instructions to find out.
Time dragged on and this mode seemed to last forever with the game being really slow paced and boring.

With this mode completed i thought right ill try one of my previous failures again and see if i can do it,i failed my 1st game then switched the 360 off as i could not bare to go throw it all again.

The game has beaten me and left me feeling empty after promising me what looked like some easy points, how i now despise you and your silly added on modes.

The NIU Shooting

Story from Kotaku.Com
It's Virginia Tech all over again! Florida attorney Jack Thompson has appeared on Fox News this morning as a "School Shooting Expert", blaming 27-year-old sociology grad Steven Kazmierczak's rampage yesterday at Northern Illinois University on - you guessed it - video games like Counter-Strike. Kazmierczak, identified only this morning, walked onto a lecture hall stage dressed in black and opened fire on a crowded science class, killing six students before taking his own life. As always, no evidence has been found linking Kazmierczak to video games, Counter-Strike or otherwise, but Thompson never let a lack of evidence keep him from shooting off his mouth. I imagine his ears perk up like a dog hearing its master's voice the moment a terrible tragedy like this occurs. We're currently looking into Kazmierczak to see if there is any sort of video game connection. We'll keep you posted.

Well here we go again, now where to start with this........

Fox News is currently on a game hating kick as its affecting their revenue, with less people watching tv and playing games instead so they are losing advertising deals as gaming becomes more mainstream all the time.
So its little surprise that they are involved in all this,so they probably thought to themselves who else hates videogames that we can get on to cover the story,Jack Thompson probably the most well known game hater around.

How Thompson can be a School Shooting Expert ill never know, last i checked he was a lawyer, surely there would be a lot better people to choose to be an analyst than him, heck ive never heard about him shooting up any schools so how the fuck can he be an expert on the matter?

Each time he opens his mouth shit comes out, with inaccuracies and flat out lies with not much research done on his part at all.

Thompson and Fox news seems like a match made for each other.

Heres some intresting questions for you Jack.......

How many people play videogames then dont go out and kill people?

Did Hitler play Red Alert 2 then think i know ill invade everywhere?

How far on Tenchu did Jack the Ripper get?

Do you not think the main problem is that people in America can get guns so easily?

You can look all through history and find murderers, music was blamed for making people kill themselves, some people are just fucked in the head,or have shitty upbringings and other stuff happen in their lives.

Now onto the story.....
its a shame that this happened at all,and the death of a murderer and 6 innocent peoples lives shouldnt be tarnished by the fact that some people have their own agenda, and try using stuff like this to further their cause.
There has been no proof to date what so ever that this murderer played any videogames at all,to claim he has without proof is just bullshit.

Who knows what has really happened, maybe he had personal problems and couldnt take it anymore,he could have been bullied,he could have been a whack job,the pressure of failing his tests and having to redo them again could have made him snap, there can be lots of reasons why he did this.

Until theres any proof about what happened people shouldnt speculate about it all,So in closing wait for the facts and treat the people who lost lives and their relatives with some respect instead of making up bullshit you cant prove.

My condolences go out to all the familys and friends who have lost loved ones in this terrible event.
